Tennis Gets Two Losses In Arizona

Freshman Sarah Nogan
The WNMU women's tennis team started their season with losses against Chaminade University, 5-4, and No. 3 BYU-Hawaii, 9-0, on Thursday. Even though the ladies were not able to come out with a win, they were able to gain some experience.

Versus Chaminade, three of the four WNMU points came from three singles wins by Sarah Nogan (Albuquerque, NM, Cibola High School), Emily Lampman (Kerrville, TX, Tivy High School), and Doris Berberic (Lower Hult, New Zealand, Hutt Valley High School). The final point came from Vanessa Molina (El Paso, TX, Franklin High School, Tyler Junior College) and Nogan in their doubles match.

“Despite the loss, we are very proud of the ladies' performance today. They played hard and showed the effort that we have been looking for,” says assistant coach Carolina Hannes.

The closest matchup versus BYU-Hawaii was from doubles partners Stephanie Shelton (Douglas, AZ, Douglas High School) and Lampman. They fell to the Seasiders' Ayako Ikeda and Shawni Porter, 8-4.
