In the tale of two matches, the Mustangs cruised to an easy victory, 8-1, over CSU – Pueblo Saturday morning; however, in a late afternoon match-up against the University of Idaho, the Mustangs faced adversity and dropped the match, 5-1.
Versus CSU – Pueblo, WNMU had a dramatic win at No. 1 singles with
Emily Lampman (Kerrville, TX, Tivy High School) coming through with the victory over Wrainwright (6-3, 7-6 (8)).
Nikolina Vukadin (Pale, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sredwjoskolski Centar Pale) also shined with a 6-2 and 6-4 win at No. 2 singles.
In the second women's match of the day, both the Mustangs and the University of Idaho Vandals defaulted their No. 6 spot because of injury concerns, but the Mustangs held strong to the end of each match.
Vukadin pulled out the lone point for the Mustangs with a 7-5 and 6-4 wild win.
“It has been a long but successful weekend for the WNMU tennis programs,” says head coach Erik Burton. The Mustangs will continue play next week with Montana State University - Billings on April 23.
