Mustangs Stomp on Cougars

Sophomore Emily Lampman
The Mustangs got the easy victory and swept Colorado Christian University Friday morning, 9-0. Overall, WNMU outscored the Cougars 76-13. They hope to win their second game in a row tomorrow at home.

Emily Lampman (Kerrville, TX, Tivy High School) won in the No. 1 position, but it wasn't that easy. Lampman had the toughest match of the day and defeated Howard, 6-3 and 6-3. “I really like the matchup for Emily today,” says head coach Erik Burton. “We played CCU last week and our No. 1 singles spot had difficulty.

A contender for RMAC Freshman of the Year, Nikolina Vukadin (Pale, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sredwjoskolski Centar Pale) won another match convincingly (6-1, 6-2).

Both Izelle Olivier (Schweizer Reneke, South Africa, Wolmaransstad High School) and Stephanie Shelton (Douglas, AZ, Douglas High School) showed their experience on the court and allowed only three points between the two of them. “We really need Izelle and Stephanie to step up their intensity in match play going into the RMAC Championship. I really think the Mustangs can turn some heads,” concludes Burton.
