Senior outside hitter Angelina Pulu (Long Beach, CA/Robert A. Millikan High School) was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week Monday that was announced by the conference office.
Pulu collected 52 digs this week, postÂing a high of 20 against UC-Colorado Springs on Thursday. She also had 18 in a sweep over Metro State. In addition, she tallied six toÂtal blocks for the week in the three matches, with a high of three in a sweep of No. 24 Regis. On offense, she added 25 kills, with a high of 13 against Metro State.
WNMU sits in third place in the RMAC, just one game behind Colorado Mines. The Lady Mustangs have won 12 straight sets dating back to their match against CSU-Pueblo when they responded to dropping the opening set with three straight and then sweeps over UCCS, Regis and Metro State. The Lady Mustangs have another lengthy streak going as they are now winners of five straight and earlier this season they had an eight match winning streak. This is the most wins over the first 17 matches since 2008 when WNMU had 12. They are also just one win short of matching last season's win total of 15.
