Senior wide receiver Ronnell Pompey was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week. Pompey had a huge game against Colorado Mines on Saturday, going for 226 yards receiving on seven catches with one touchdown. His one touchdown catch came on a 93-yard grab. Hauling in a pass along the near sidelines, he went nearly 60 yards after the catch, eluding two defenders on the way to the end zone. Most of his receptions on the day were long ones including catches of 22, 49, 15 and 39.
Pompey helped WNMU to two straight wins over Colorado Mines with the 25-22 victory. He leads the team in receiving yards (552), longest catch (93), yards per game (138) and is tied with Donald Byrd for most touchdowns with three. In addition, he has 24 total receptions and has started in all four games this season. He ranks 14th nationally in receiving yards, trailing the national leader by just 184 yards. He is fourth in receiving yards per game, trailing the national leader by just 9.2 yards.
