Stephanie Higgins was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Player of the Week as announced by the conference office Tuesday.
Higgins was a force offensively for the Mustangs, as she opened the weekend with a 3-for-3 game against Adams State that included a home run, a double and three RBI as WNMU won 4-3. She had three RBI in each of the first three games, which included another home run in the third game of the series. She had two perfect games at the plate, as in the last game she went 1-for-1, but had a couple of key walks to keep the offense moving. For the week, she walked twice without a strikeout in 12 at-bats, as she knocked out nine hits and nine RBI, along with five runs scored. The freshman first baseman also made several key plays defensively, posting 28 putouts without an error, as she made several picks out of the dirt and came off the bag a couple of times to make great tag plays to save errors.
