Lauren Flowers

Lauren Flowers

Lauren Flowers recently completed her first season on the Mustang volleyball staff in 2015. She also works alongside her husband and fellow assistant coach, Steven.

Lauren helped guide the Lady Mustangs to a very succesful 2015 campaign that had WNMU flirting with the top spot in the RMAC and nearly earning an NCAA Regional selection. The team collected 19 victories, 14 in the RMAC and had four players (Leeta Grap, Shannon Rich, Heather Verrill and Ashley Mataele) garner all All-RMAC accolades. The team did even better than that in the classroom, posting a conference-high 11 on the All-RMAC Academic list.

Lauren was born and raised in Santa Clara, Calif., and attended Valley Christian High School. During her time with the Warriors, she played four years and the team finished second in the Central Coast Section in 2010. In addition, she played club for Main Beach Volleyball Club in Aptos, Calif.

Her collegiate career took place at Azusa Pacific University. While there, the Cougars finished 5th overall in the 2011 NAIA national tournament before moving to NCAA Division II. She majored in Liberal Studies and graduated in December 2014.

Lauren married fellow assistant coach Steven Flowers in June 2014 and the two moved to Oklahoma City soon after. Lauren coached volleyball at Bethany High School in Bethany, Okla., helping guide the team to a fourth place finish at the 2014 state tournament. She also added coaching duties that spring for the 17's Rush Volleyball Club.

Lauren is thrilled to join the WNMU staff as an assistant coach. She will also be working as a graduate assistant in the Office of Interdisciplinary Studies while pursuing her Master's in Educational Leadership. Lauren hopes teaching and coaching will forever be a part of her career.

When not playing or coaching volleyball, she enjoys spending time with her amazing friends and family, who are her biggest supporters. Hobbies include fitness, reading, and playing herself in checkers so she has the opportunity to play against some "real competition".
