High School: She played soccer and golf and was named honorable mention in soccer in 2011-12.

BYU-Hawaii (2014): She played in 27 matches, 83 sets where she came away with a team-high 342 digs. In addition she added two kills, 53 assists and a block. She had 17 matches with at least 10 digs going for a season-high 28 digs against Academy of Art. 

WNMU (2015): Mataele played in all 27 matches and all 101 sets in her first season with the Lady Mustangs. She tallied two kills, 67 assists, 14 service aces and led the team with 458 digs. She posted double-digit kills in 21 matches with a high of 28 digs against Newman. She had two service aces against both Cal State San Marcos and Colorado Mesa.

WNMU (2016): Mataele continued to be the defensive specialist for the Lady Mustangs as she led the team in digs with 540, averaging 4.66 per set. She played in all 32 matches and all 116 sets. Mataele also added a kill, 101 assists and 33 service aces (second on the team). She posted over 30 digs on three different occassions with a high of 34 coming against St. Edward's. She went for double-digit digs in all but four matches and had a double-double with 10 assists and 21 digs versus Minot State. Mataele took home Westminster All-Tournament accolades and capped the season by being named to the Lone Star Conference All-Tournament team after posting 16 digs against Tarleton State.
