Biography
WNMU (2016-17): Looney played in 26 games, starting five. She averaged six points and 6.8 rebounds per game, along with 16 blocks and 17 steals while making a team-best 63 percent from the field. She tallied a season-high 21 points against Cameron and she added a double-double with 10 rebounds. She had five games scoring at least 14 points and six games with at least 10 rebounds, pulling down a season-high 16 against Eastern New Mexico.
WNMU (2015-16): Looney played in all 28 games as a true freshman, averaging nearly 10 minutes per game (9.7). She posted 3.4 points and 2.5 rebounds per game, along with seven steals, two blocks, three assists, 16 free throws and 39 field goals. She scored a career-high 10 points against Eastern New Mexico. She pulled down a high in rebounds with nine against Adams State.
High School: Looney was a team captain at Apache Junction, as prior to that she played at juggernaut St. Mary's in Phoenix where she won two state championship rings as a freshman and sophomore. Her junior season she posted a career-high 30 points, 12 rebounds and two steals against Saguaro. The season opener that year she tallied 15 points, 15 rebounds, four steals, three assists and a block against Alhambra. She ended up leading the team in scoring her junior year averaging 15 points per game. During her sophomore season she was mentioned in USA Today following an 18 point, seven rebound game versus Alhambra. She was part of the national championship team her freshman season that resulted in a chance to meet with the Governor of Arizona Jan Brewer and the city of Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton.
She has been coached by Naismith award winning high school coach in Curtis Ekmark and some of her former teammates at St. Mary's currently play for Harvard, Connecticut, UCLA, Louisville, San Diego, and San Diego State, just to name a few.
Looney even has experience participating in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference camps. She won the top post award at CSU-Pueblo and three of the top four awards at the WNMU camp this past summer in 2014. In 2012 she attended the PGC camp in Canada. Looney plans to major in sociology and minor in prelaw and has extensive traveling experience having visited Africa, Spain, Italy, Malta, Mexico, Ireland, Canada, Alaska, Hawaii and most of the states. She is supported tremendously by her faith, her mom, Marie and her two little brothers, Bryson and Cameron.
