Biography
Akina, a 6-foot forward, transfers in from St. Mary's in San Antonio, Texas and played close by at Franklin High in El Paso. This past season with the Rattlers, she played in 10 games, scoring 11 points, pulling down 23 rebounds and added six steals. As a freshman, she saw action in 14 games and posted 21 points, 34 rebounds and added five steals and five blocks. During her high school career at Franklin she was a two-year letterman, becoming a District, Bi-District and Regional champion with her team. She was named to several postseason honors including First-Team All-City, First-Team All-District and played in the Texas All-Star game.
