High School: Saenz played at Silver High where he was a varsity starter for three years, including a captain the final two seasons. As a sophomore he garnered Sandia All-Prep Tournament Team, First-Team All-District, All-District 3-AAAA Championships Team and helped lead his team to the sweet sixteen at the NM State Tournament. As a junior he led the team in steals, most points, most assists and scored a career-high 30 against Hot Springs. He was named to the First-Team All-District and All-District 3-AAAA Championship Team. In his final season he led the team again in assists and points while being selected to the Sandia Prep Tournament Team, First-Team All-District, All-District 3-AAAA Championship Team, District MVP, 3/4A All-South All-Star Team, 4A All-State Team, District 3-AAAA Sportsmanship Award, 4A All-NMPreps.com Team, NM Preps Top 25 guards, NM Top 100, United States Army Reserve National Scholar-Athlete Award and helped lead his team to the Elite Eight at the NM State Tournament.
