Native of San Diego, California, Butler graduated with his Business Management degree 2018, and is earning his Masters in Educational Leadership and Business Management in the Fall of 2020.

2018: Appeared in 7 games, totaling 28 tackles, with 12 solos, and broke up one pass. Butler also had one punt return against San Diego that went for 33 yards.
2017:
Appeared in all 10 games and stated 9 of them, totaling 24 tackles and 4 solo tackles. Butler had a fumble return for 85 yards and TD against Eastern New Mexico University.
2016: Butler played in seven games, starting two as a redshirt sophomore. He came away with 11 tackles, 5 solo and a pass defended. He had four tackles against Eastern New Mexico, along with a pass broken up.
2015: Butler played in three games, posting five tackles, with a season-high four stops against Arizona Christian.
2014: Redshirt season.
