Jose Flores, a starter for the Mustang football team the past few seasons, will join the coaching staff in 2014 in charge of the tight ends. He begins his second season on the staff in 2015.

During his first season coaching the tight ends, Mustang tight ends snagged three touchdowns and 17 receptions. The Mustangs as a team set school records for offense in a season, scoring the most points (377) and gaining the most yards (5,606) in WNMU’s documented history. In 2014 WNMU may have been the most balanced offense in the country. The Mustangs were the only team in the country who passed for over 3,600 yards and rushed for over 1,980 yards. The offense was ranked 9th in the nation in total offense averaging over 500 yards a game (509.6), 10th nationally for yards per game passing (329.4), 2nd in the RMAC in points per game (34.3), 18th nationally and 2nd in the RMAC in time of possession per game (35:20), 17th nationally in first downs (288), and gave up the least amount of sacks in the RMAC (1.36) per game.

Flores played in 16 total games for the Mustangs in three season following a redshirt year in 2011. He played every game along the offensive line at center. In 2012, the offense accumulated 1,503 yards rushing and 16 touchdowns, while through the air, WNMU compiled 3,335 yards and 27 touchdowns.

During his senior season in 2013, the ground attack chewed up 1,144 yards and nine touchdowns, while the passing game tallied 2,880 yards and 26 touchdowns.

He played at Chaffey College for one season before transferring to WNMU, playing in a pair of contests.
