Coach James Basham was welcomed to the WNMU Mustangs as the Defensive Line Coach Graduate Assistant for Fall 2021.
The native of Pico Rivera, CA, began his coaching career as the Defensive Line Coach at Downey High School from 2017-2020.
Basham attended Warren High School in Downey, California, and graduated in 2013. He was recruited to play for East Los Angeles College in 2014-2015. He continued his collegiate career at Wingate University from 2015-2017. During his time at Wingate, Basham helped the team to a 9-1 winning record and earning SAC Champion.
While at WNMU, Basham has hopes to build young men to be successful on and off the field. He is extremely thankful for all the sacrifices his mother and father, Tina and James, have made for him over the years.
Aside from football, Basham enjoys playing baseball, going on hikes, and BBQing with friends. He also enjoys spending time with his young, one year old dog named Lil' Jon.
Fun Fact: In 2012, Basham was stung by multiple jellyfish.
