David Slover was hired as a graduate assistant in January 2013 to work with the Running Backs and assist in the strength program, prior to that he was a defensive lineman at WNMU from 2011-2013. He moved to defensive line coach for the 2014 campaign and will remain in that spot for the 2015 season.

A pair of his defensive linemen were named All-RMAC in Zachary Dembrowski and Anthony Avina. The defensive unit as a group tallied 810 total tackles, 425 solo stops, 54 tackles for loss, 19 sacks, 11 interceptions, forced 10 fumbles and recovered eight. 

His running backs tallied 1,144 yards and nine touchdowns in 2013, with top running back Abe Macias earning All-RMAC Third-Team accolades posting 932 yards on 202 attempts and six scores. The team rushed for over 100 yards five times and over 200 once in a dominating 38-14 win at Black Hills State the Mustangs chewed up 244 yards on the ground and had three touchdowns.

Slover, a native of Covina, Calif., earned his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and a minor in coaching at WNMU. Before Coming to WNMU, Slover attended Fullerton College from 2007-2009. During his time at Fullerton College he was a team captain and a southern conference honorable mention performer on the defensive line.

At WNMU, Slover will be working toward a master’s degree in kinesiology and educational leadership.
