Coach Andrew Faaumu wrapped up his first season with the Mustangs in 2016 in charge of the offensive line. The WNMU offense tallied 235 first downs, 1,292 yards on the ground and 4,487 through the air, along with 36 total touchdowns.

With his offensive line leading the way, the Mustangs rushed for over 100 yards in six games, going for a high of 251 against West Texas A&M. They collected two rushing scores in four games as well. WNMU passed for over 400 yards on two occasions and went for at least 300 yards five times. Against two of the top teams in the LSC, the Mustangs passed for 447 yards against Tarleton State and six touchdowns and then followed that up the next week with a 417 yard performance against nationally-ranked Texas A&M-Commerce.

Before arriving in Silver City, Coach Faaumu spent the previous two years as an Assistant Coach at Western Oregon University.

This past season, Western Oregon posted a seven-win season, including an upset win over then-No. 6 ranked North Alabama. The defense he helped coach forced 21 turnovers, 24 sacks and held teams to just a 43 percent touchdown rate in the red zone (20-47). During the 2014 season, the Wolves grabbed six wins and the defense forced 23 turnovers, 27 sacks and held teams to a 35 percent (65-184) third-down conversion rate.

Before joining WOU, Coach Faaumu spent time coaching at Richland High School in Washington both as the Defensive Line Coach and Freshmen Head Coach. In 2012 at Kaiser High, he coached the offensive line as the team won the White Division for the first time in 30-plus years.

Coach Faaumu worked his way into being a big contributor along the offensive line at the University of Hawaii, walking on to the team and earning a scholarship. He played in 31 games during his career on the offensive line and special teams and the team won the Western Athletic Conference championship in 2010. He played his high school career at Lahainaluna all four years. Following his college playing career at the University of Hawaii, he played two seasons with the Tri Cities Fever in the Indoor Football League.
