High School:
Wellborn graduated from Socorro HS in 2019. Wellborn was a three sport athlete for the Warriors, playing football, basketball, and baseball. Wellborn threw 11 passes for 119 yards, and two touchdowns. Rushing the ball he had 55 rushes for 422 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also had 185 receiving yards, and five touchdowns. Defensively, he had 13 tackles. 

On the diamond, he played 25 games, he batted .485 with 32 hits, 12 stolen bases, 26 runs, 31 RBI, 5 2B, 7 3B, and 3 HR. On the mound he was 3-1 with 29 strikeouts and 5.19 ERA.
