SILVER CITY, N.M. – Mustang fans won't have to wait long to cheer from the stands this fall. The 2025 WNMU Volleyball schedule is officially live, and for the first time in years, Western New Mexico will open the season at home, twice!
"The last couple of years, we would have to wait a month to play at home," said Head Coach
Geno Frugoli. "So this year, running a home tournament both the first and third weekend will be great for our team and for everyone who supports us."
The Mustangs kick off the season with a four-match home slate on September 5–6 and September 12–13 as part of two early home tournaments at Drag's Court. In total, WNMU will host 15 matches in Silver City this fall.
Frugoli's squad will get plenty of time to settle in before conference play heats up, and the home court will be key in marquee Lone Star Conference matchups. WNMU will host perennial powers West Texas A&M (Oct. 16) and Angelo State (Oct. 28) during the heart of the conference season.
"It's also exciting that we get to host some top conference teams like Angelo State and West Texas A&M during the conference season," Frugoli said.
The Mustangs close out the regular season with a road-heavy stretch, playing six of their final seven matches away from home.
"Although we finish the year with 6 of 7 on the road, the schedule sets up well for our young team to play well at home and work into being road warriors," Frugoli added.
With a front-loaded home schedule, high-profile conference showdowns, and a challenging finish to build toughness for postseason play, the 2025 campaign is shaping up to be one of the most exciting in recent memory for WNMU Volleyball.
