Box Score San Angelo, T.X. - The Western New Mexico Mustangs Women's Basketball team carries on their 2024-2025 season in a match against Angelo State University. The WNMU Mustangs were steamrolled in the second half, to finish with a loss of 44-82.
The Mustangs could not find a rhythm in their shooting era, averaging 28.3% (13-46), while the Rams were 44% (33-75). The Mustangs just barely toppled the Rams in three-pointers, averaging 22.2% (2-9) versus 20% (5-25) for ASU. Western came ready to play from the free-throw line, with an average of 100% (16-16), while the Rams' average was a bit lower with 73.3% (11-15).
Alina Martin would lead the Mustangs with a total of 16 points(3-10). Alina Martin,
Naomi Kimble (Animas, NM/Animas High School), and
Kiana Ortiz (Tucson, AZ/Palo Verde High School) would all average 100% in free throws for the Mustangs.
Cieara Dinwiddie (Porter, TX/Porter High School), Alina Martin, and
Savannah Wilson (Humble, TX/Kingwood Park High School) all had 4 rebounds by the end of time.
The Rams make the most of Western New Mexico's 34 turnovers, generating 44 points in response and establishing a strong early lead. Western New Mexico had help from the bench, with 20 points overall.
