Box Score PORTALES, N.M. – Western New Mexico men's basketball earned a strong 70–55 victory over New Mexico Highlands on Friday night at the Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena, using balanced scoring, tough defense, and clutch free-throw shooting to secure the win. The Mustangs led 33–24 at halftime and never surrendered momentum, improving to 1–0 on the weekend.
Carson Kelly (Chandler, AZ/Chandler High School) delivered a standout performance, scoring 12 points while going an impressive 10-of-11 from the free-throw line, helping WNMU maintain control in the second half.
Isaiah Broady (Chandler, AZ/Arizona Compass Prep) led all Mustang scorers with 18 points, including several key drives late to keep the Cowboys at arm's length
Also contributing double-figures were Cortavious Seales with 10 points (4-of-4 FT) and
James McCallum (Long Beach, CA./St. Bernard's High School) with 10 points (5-of-6 FT), rounding out a well-balanced offensive effort. WNMU's ability to get to the line paid off, as the Mustangs consistently converted in key moments.

New Mexico Highlands was led by Robert Dix with 17 points (5-of-7 FT) and Nikk Williams, who added 7 points (5-of-6 FT).
