GOODYEAR, Ari. - The Western New Mexico University men's golf team traveled to the Golf Club of Estrella in Goodyear, Ari. for the Hot Dirt Desert Shootout. The Mustangs are currently in 6th place at (+6), 294.

Leading the pack is Arnav Arkanath (Milton Keyes, GB/Sir Henry Floyd HS), T-5th at (-1), 71. Arkanath made two birdies and an eagle. T-19th is Joey Geary (Phoenix, AZ/Sunnyslope HS) and Max Kaesebier (Bad Langensalza, Germany/Pierre-de-Coubertin Gymnasium) at (+1), 73. Geary had four birdies and Kaesebier recorded four.

T-50th is Tomas Ribeiro (Porto Seguro, BR/Evolução Centro HS) at (+5), 77. Ribeiro contributed two birdies. Adam Niles (Kamloops, BC/Valley View Secondary HS) rounds out the lineup, T-75th at (+7), 79. Niles holed in one birdie.

Dallas Baptist holds first at (-2), Colorado Christian is in second at E and UTPB rounds out the top three at (+1).

Tied for first is Chris Jenkins of Dallas Baptist and Chris Chomyn of CSU Stanilaus at (-5).

The Mustangs will continue with round two tomorrow.
