SAN ANGELO, Texas - The Western New Mexico University softball team traveled to #21 Angelo State this Friday evening for a three-game series. The Mustangs dropped game one 2-1 and game two 7-4.
GAME ONE:
Kamerynn Cordova (Fowler, CA/Fowler HS) (3-11) got the nod in game one, going 6.0 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB and 4 Ks. Cheyenne Floyd pitched for the Rambelles, going 7.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB and 8 Ks.
ASU go things started in the second inning with a solo Home Run form Keilei Garice for a 1-0 lead.
In the fourth inning, Garcia would send a single through the left side to bring in another run, making it 2-0.
Ramona Fossum (Mescalero, NM/Mescalero Apache HS) took a 2-0 count in the fifth inning, to cut the defecit, 2-1.
GAME TWO:
In game two
Labraida Tenorio (Rio Rancho, NM/Rio Rancho HS) (2-7) would get the start, going 2.1 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 1 K.
Kiya Hamar (Forest Ranch, CA/Pleasant Valley HS) and
Emily Maddux (Douglas, AZ/Douglas High School) would both get to pitch in relief of Tenorio. Hamar went 1.1 IP, 6 H, 3 R and 3 ER, while Maddux pitched 2.1 IP, Â 1 H and 1 BB.
Laylonna Applin sent a single through the side in the first inning for a 1-0 Rambelles' lead.
In the third inning Tatianna Trotter sent a two-run Home Run, making it 3-0. Zoey De Baca would finish of the the innning with a double to bring across one more run, 4-0.
Kaylee Hickman (Cloudcroft, NM/Cloudcroft High School) would get the Mustangs on the board in the fourth inning with a two-run Home Run, 4-2.
The Rambelles would do the rest of their scoring in the bottom of the fourth inning, with a solo Home Run and a single to bring in a run, 7-2.
In the sixth inning,
Ana Armijo (Albuquerque, NM/Volcano Vista HS) brought the Mustangs closer with a two-run Home Run, 7-4.
Mattie Wolkow (2-1) started for the Rambelles going 4.0 IP, 6H, 2 R, 1 ER and 1 BB. Torrey Hogan was credited with the save.
The Mustangs will be back in action tomorrow at 11:00 AM MT.
