Mustangs Fall to Greyhounds by a Narrow Margin

PORTALES, NM – The WNMU Mustangs Women's Basketball Finished the 2024 season on Drags Court against New Mexico Rival Eastern New Mexico University. ENMU took the victory today 53-45.

 

Finishing her WNMU career, Sydney Wright (Houston, Texas/Henley High School) once again scored double figures against the Greyhounds (10 points). Finishing 40% from the perimeter, she also picked up 2 defensive rebounds in her final game. Alina Simon (Killeen, TX/Ellison High School), who also played her final game in a WNMU uniform, finished with 6 points, led the team in steals (4), grabbed 4 defensive rebounds, and picked up a block for the Mustangs.

 

Diamond Moore (Colorado Springs, CO/Harrison High School) also had double figures (10 points) in this matchup and led the team in boards (7 offensive and 4 defensive).

 

Brooke Rodgers (Phoenix, Arizona/Cactus Shadows High School) was also a key player for the Mustangs Defense as she grabbed 5 rebounds (2 offensive and 3 defensive), 2 blocks, and finished with a steal.

 

WNMU found themselves struggling to hit from deep as the team had several good looks in this matchup. The Greyhounds outscored them from the arc by 37.5%. 

 

The Mustangs trailed the Greyhounds most of today, but outscored them by 3 in the 3rd quarter.

 

Leading the Greyhounds in scoring was Deja Adrian, who made 6 of her 16 shots to finish with 25 points individually.

 

This concludes the WNMU women's basketball 2024 season as they look to prepare for next year
