LUBBOCK, Texas– The Western New Mexico University Men's Basketball team played in game three of a four-game road trip against the Chaps of Lubbock Christian. The Mustangs fell 88-53.
 
This puts the Mustangs at 3-18 (1-15).
 
Two Mustangs managed double-digits on the Chaps. Leading the Mustangs was Cortaviaus Seals with 15 points. Evan Butts (Houston, TX/Cy Fair High School) added 10 points.
 
Rebounding and points in the paint would trouble the Mustangs on the night. The Chaps secured 48 rebounds to the Mustangs 30. LCU nearly doubled WNMU in the paint with a count of 42-22.
 
Mustangs shot 11-36 (30%) from the field and 4-15 (26%) from deep in the first half. WNMU finished the game shooting 19-68 (22%) and 5-23 (22%) from three. LCU would shoot 36-65 (42%) from the field and 11-26 (42%) from behind the arc for the game.
 
At the charity stripe WNMU went 10-13 (77%) and LCU shot 5-5 (100%).

On the boards, Tanner Vogel (Stratham, Australia/Georgiana Molloy Anglican School) each secured six rebounds. Seales dished three assists.

In the defensive department, Seales Jr had two steals.
 
The Mustangs began the first half by immediately going down 10-0. The slow start continued to plague the Mustangs as they found themselves down by 10 points still with under 10 to go. WNMU closed the half by slowly chipping away at the lead, trialing 37-30 at the half.

In the second half the Chaps deployed a 21-6 run to open up the game. WNMU would try to claw back, but a weak shooting night would be their enemy in the second half. The Chaps defeated the Mustangs 88-53.
 
Tiras Morton scored 22 points on the Mustangs. Najeeb Muhammad added 20 as well
