Box Score DURANGO, Colo. – The Western New Mexico Mustangs Women's Basketball team had their second game of the season Saturday afternoon against the New Mexico Highlands Cowgirls as part of the LSC/RMAC Conference Challenge. The Mustangs fought hard all game but would come up short, falling 80-60.
The Mustangs were outperformed pretty steadily across the board averaging 40.00% (22- 55) compared to Highlands' 44.80% (30-67). The Mustangs were 25.00% on three-point shooting, making 4 of their 16 attempts, while the Cowgirls hit 35.3%, sinking 6 of 17 attempts.
Jade Goynes (Fort Worth, TX/North Crowley High School) (Fort Worth, TX/North Crowley High School) led the Mustangs with 24 points, making 5 of 6 free throw attempts and the most rebounds with 10 on the day. Goynes is followed by

Fort Lewis capitalized on Western New Mexico's 22 turnovers, converting them into 25 points and establishing an early and consistent lead. The Mustangs fought back with 18 second-chance points but were unable to close the gap, as the Cowgirls had 19 second-chance points of their own.
The Mustangs will be back in New Mexico to face the Northern New Mexico Lady Eagles in Espanola, NM on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at 6 p.m. MT.
