SILVER CITY – Head Coach Geno Frugoli is excited to announce the schedule for the upcoming 2023 Volleyball season. The Mustangs will play in a total of 29 games including three tournaments, 16 conferences and the rekindling of a rivalry with New Mexico Highlands.
 
To kick things off, the Mustangs began camp on August 9^th in order to prepare for their first exhibition matchup against New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, N.M.
 
"It's very exciting to get in the gym and get started," said Head Coach Geno Frugoli.  "I think we are getting the culture of the team right and our players are hungry for success."
 
After a quick stint in Las Cruces, the Mustangs will travel to Turlock, Calif. for the Stanislaus State Tournament, where they will take on Fresno Pacific, Stanislaus State, Chico State and Academy of Art. 

Following the Stanislaus State Tournament, the Mustangs will be back on the road again for the Bettye Wallace Invitational with matchups against Southwest Baptist University, University of West Alabama, Henderson State University and Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
 
Next the Mustangs will head to Portales, N.M. for the Conference Crossover with Eastern New Mexico University, Midwestern State University and Cameron University.
 
"We are looking forward to playing New Mexico State for their home opener on the 19th just a week before we hit the road for our first tournament," said Frugoli.  "I have a ton of respect for Coach Jordan and that program, and we've enjoyed partnering with them when possible.  We know the Lone Star Conference is among the best, so to prepare for that challenge early in our schedule should pay dividends." 
 
The Mustangs will then kickoff conference play with three straight road contests against Angelo State University, Texas A&M International University and Texas A&M Kingsville University.
 
WNMU will then return home for a two-game stint to close out September against University of Arkansas Fort Smith and Oklahoma Christian University. 
 
In October the Mustangs will be on the road again with matchups against Dallas Baptist University, University of Texas at Tyler and UT Permian Basin. Following these contests, WNMU will have another two-game stint at home with St. Mary's University and St. Edward's University.
 
On October 18^th the Mustangs will rekindle their rivalry with New Mexico Highlands, as they head up to Las Vegas, N.M. Closing out September, the Mustangs will host Midwestern State University and Texas Woman's University.
 
Kicking off November, WNMU will hit the road for two games against West Texas A&M University and Cameron University. The Mustangs will close out the season at home against Eastern New Mexico University and Lubbock Christian University.

"My expectation is that our team will work extremely hard and will play together," said Frugoli.  "Everyone should see the pride we take in competing for WNMU and our community."
