SILVER CITY, N.M. - Sunday afternoon, at Mustang Stadium, the Western New Mexico University Mustangs lost game three to No. 22 Oklahoma Christian, 7-2. WNMU is winless in series versus the Eagles.
The Mustangs had 13 hits over the weekend resulting nine runs. WNMU blasted five home runs, however, the Eagles struck out WNMU hitters, 28 times. In the circle, the Mustangs gave up 29 runs (26 earned runs), 15 extra base hits, 39 total hits, eight strikeouts and just four walks.
Kennedy Jarrard (Carlsbad, CA/Carlsbad HS) was one of two Mustangs to have a hit today, hers being a two-run home run
Kammeryn Cordova started in the circle for the Mustangs. Cordova now falls to (2-4) on the year. Her line went 5.1 IP, 10 H, 6 R (4 ER), and 2 K. Cassidy Paulson (Arvada, CO/Golden Colorado HS) finished out the game, pitching 1.2 IP, 2 H, and 1 ER.
Starting the 1st inning off, OC smacked a two-run home run, taking an early 2-0 lead.
In the 2nd inning, Jarrard swung on the first pitch, hitting a long two-run home run to center field. The Mustangs tied the game up at 2-2.
OC scored two runs in the 5ht inning. The first run was scored on an error and later in the inning, the second run was scored on a sacrifice fly.
The next inning, the Eagles scored two more runs off an RBI single. OC led 6-2.
In the final inning, OC got another run with a sacrifice fly. The Mustangs trailed 7-2.
The Eagles started Jill Dickson. She is now (3-0) on the year. She went 7.0 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 15 K, and 3 BB.

The Mustangs will head to Eastern New Mexico for a three game series. There will be a double header on Tuesday (2/21), starting at 3:00pm and 5:00pm. A single game Wednesday (2/22) will be played, starting at 1:00pm.
