SILVER CITY, N.M. – Head Football Coach Billy Hickman and Western New Mexico University Football has the hiring of Clyde Logan to lead the Mustangs Special Teams and Defensive Backs.
"I have known Clyde for a long time, in working with him to recruit the junior college he was at. When he expressed interest to me about the open position we had, I was excited to have an opportunity to get him here," said Hickman.
The previous ten seasons, Logan served as the Defensive Backs, Special Teams Coordinator, and Placement Coordinator at Southwestern Community College. For the 2022 season, Logan was the Defensive Coordinator.
"Clyde is a great man, whose background and experience will serve him well," said Hickman. "He will mold our defensive backs and specialists. I know he will be an incredible asset to our program and our university."

During his time as the Placement Coordinator, he has assisted and helped over 250 student athletes earn scholarships to 4-year universities.
Logan is native of Charlotte, NC, where he joined the United States Marine Corps out of high school. During his four years in the service, he was named to the All-Marine athletic teams. He then began his career at Mt. San Jacinto College playing under Coach Carberry. He then transferred to Idaho State on a full scholarship to play wide receiver.
Logan was lucky enough to have a professional career, first having a short stint in the NFL with the Cincinnati Bengals. He then went overseas to play professional football in Europe.
Logan is a well educated man. He earned his bachelor';s in Sociology at Idaho State and later continued his education at Concordia-Irvine. At CUI, Logan got a master's degree in Coaching and Athletics Administration, but wasn't finished and received another master's in Exercise Science.
Clyde and wife Inish have a four-year-old son named Zion and have another baby on the way, due at the end of May. Inish and Zion will look to move to Silver City this summer.
