ALBUQUERQUE, NM – The mustangs took on the New Mexico Lobos earlier today in the last pre-season exhibition on the road for this year.
An outstanding overall performance came from
Brooke Rodgers (Phoenix, Arizona/Cactus Shadows High School) today as she came off the floor with 8 points, 4 steals, and 4 rebounds.
Diamond Moore (Colorado Springs, CO/Harrison High School) also looked strong overall, finishing the game with 9 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals, and an assist.
The Mustangs found themselves in a massive drought from deep, only knocking down 2 shots out of 14 attempts the entire matchup. The Lobos shot 24% higher from the arc and 6% better on overall FG attempts.
Although WNMU struggled on FGs, they went 7 for 9 from the charity strip and outshot the New Mexico Lobos by 16% on Free Throws.
The Lobos found themselves hot early, going on an 8-0 run to start the game.
Jade Goynes (Fort Worth, TX/North Crowley High School) was the first Mustang to rack up points for WNMU, but the team could not stop the Lobos from scoring at will.
The Mustangs were outplayed in the first 3 quarters of the game.
Although they shot 0-5 from the 3pnt line in the 4
th quarter, they managed to outplay the Lobos in the last quarter to end today's game and scoring 2 more points than University of New Mexico.
The Lobos would take the dub 71-47.
The Mustangs will challenge Northern New Mexico University back at home for the last game before the new year.
