Box Score Silver City, NM. – The Western New Mexico University Mustangs' volleyball team finished off the 2023 season tonight against Lubbock Christian University. LCU would take a set sweep victory.
Tonight,
Jazmyne Walker (Las Vegas, NV/Legacy HS) fought both defensively as well as on offense, producing 6 digs and 17 kills.
Carley Deck (Tucson, AZ/Tanque Verde HS) also played solid on both sides of the ball as she earned 3 blocks and 5 kills.
Naomi Kimble (Animas, NM/Animas HS) had a strong showing as well as she earned 4 blocks and 6 kills.
Leading today in assists once again was Leticia Correa, who had 31 of her own along with
Lilouann Bechec (Cannes, France), who had 4.
The mustangs looked strong for the first half of set 1 as they tied up the Chaps at 15-15. The Chaps gained a point momentum and remained victorious through the rest of the set.
WNMU 0, LCU 1.
Western took an early lead to the Chaps, but quickly lost it and ended up trailing the remainder of the set by a 4 point deficit.
WNMU 0, LCU 2.
The Mustangs struggled at the start of the last set, letting LCU take a 6 point lead. Although they had a few flashy moments, they would not survive the set.
WNMU 0, LCU 3.
This concludes the 2023 WNMU volleyball season.
