Lacey, Wash. – The Western New Mexico Volleyball team traveled Marcus Pavilion in Lacey, Washington for the Saint Martin's Invitational on Thursday September 1
st. The Mustangs opened the invitational by losing the first match to tournament host Saint Martin in three sets.

Jazmyne Walker (Las Vegas, NV/Legacy HS) (Las Vegas, NV/Legacy HS) paced the Mustang attack tonight with 10Â kills. Veteran
Bria Augustine (Bellflower, CA/Mayfair High School) (Bellflower, CA/Mayfair High School) made her return to the court with seven kills. Senior
Madelynn Culp (Vancouver, WA/Union High School) (Vancouver, WA/Union High School) was spreading the ball to her hitters tonight, as she totaled with 14 assists.
Senior
Madison Gardner (Oak Hills, CA/Oak Hills HS) (Oak Hills, CA/Oak Hills High School) hosted her own block party, as she finished with three blocks. The Mustang defense was all over the court tonight as sophomore
Janey Cortez (El Paso, TX/East Lake HS) (El Paso, TX/East Lake High School) and Augustine both finished with 11 digs.
The Mustangs started set one with the falling behind quickly 6-2. The Mustangs would be able to close the gap to two, but the Knights would eventually run away with the set and win 25-19.
Set two started with the Knights jumping out to a 19-12 lead over the Mustangs. The Mustangs would be able to rally back and tie things up at 23-23. The Knights would ultimately win the set 27-25.
In set three the teams were set in a back-and-forth battle both being tied at 10. The Knights would ultimately gain the advantage and take set three 25-19.
The Mustangs will be back in action at Marcus Pavilion against Westminster College (9:00AM MT) and Western Oregon University (5:00PM MT) on Friday September 2
nd to continue the Saint Martin's Invitational.
