Tucson, A.Z.. - Western New Mexico University's Softball team played day two of the Cactus Classic. The Mustangs had a tough day as they would lose to Azusa Pacific, 9-0 and to California University (PA), 5-2. 

Game One Against Azusa Pacific:

The Mustangs offense couldn't get much going, only having three base runners all game.

Bryana Munoz (Dexter, NM/Dexter High School) got the start. Munoz would go 0.1 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, and 3 BB. Julia Vega (Tucson, AZ/University HS) would pitch the remainder of the game, going 3.2 IP, 7 H, 8 R (6 ER), and 4 BB. 

In the 1st inning, the Mustangs did some damage control only allowing a run and getting out of the bases loaded jam.

In the 3rd inning, APU began to pull away, getting four hits and bringing four runs. The fourth inning was much of the same, as the Cougars would tally 3 more hits and four more runs.

Vega got on base, walking twice. Trish Gallardo (Albuquerque, NM/Volcano Vista High School) also got on base by an error.

APU's starting pitcher, Katie Korstrom pitched a no-hitter and is now (3-1) on the year. She would go: 5.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 7 K, and 2 BB. 

APU's notable hitters:

Olivia Smith: 2-for-2,1 RBI

Aleha Delgado: 2-for-2, R, RBI, BB

Sommer Quinenos: 1-for-2, 2 RBI,  BB

Game Two Against California (PA):

California (PA) would take game two against the Mustangs, 5-2.

Aryana Munoz (Dexter, New Mexico/Dexter High School) got the start. She would pitch a complete game but got the loss. Munoz is now (3-4) on the year. Her final line went 7.0 IP, 7 H, 5 R (4 ER), 2 K, and 4 BB. 

For CalU, they would start Caleigh Rister, who got the no-decision. She pitched 3.0 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 2 SO, and 2 BB. Getting her first win of the year is Kelsey Barron. She went 4.0 IP, 1 H, 2 K, and 2 BB. 

The Mustangs got on the board early in the bottom of the 1st by a Bryana Munoz (Dexter, NM/Dexter High School) RBI single. 

In the 3rd inning Rister and Brooke Wilson would hit a pair of extra-base hits giving the Vulcans a 2-1 lead.

Breeanna Simmons (Chula Vista, CA/Olympian High School) tied the game up at 2-2 in the 4th inning, doubling in the left center gap, bringing in a Mustang runner.

The next inning, the Vulcans got two more runs off a sacrifice fly from Carlena Fiorlilli and an RBI double from Rister. In the 6th inning, CalU extended their lead to 5-2, by a Charity Henderson RBI single.

Caleigh Rister: 2-for-3, 3B, 2B, 1 R, 2 RBI, 1 BB

Brooke Wilson: 2-for-4, 3B, 2B, 1 RBI

Kaitlyn Cole: 1-for-1, 2 R, 1 BB

B. Simmons: 1-for-2, 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB

The Mustangs will play day three of the Cactus Classic, on Sunday. They will play at 9:00am against Simon Fraser (B.C.) and at 11:00am against California University of Pennsylvania.
