Silver City, NM - Western New Mexico University's Men's Basketball team took on West Texas at Drag's Court. The Buffs defeated the Mustangs 82-56.

Jordan Doss (Chicago, Ill./Chicago Hope Academy) continues to get the ball in the basket, scoring in double figures. Doss had a team high of 17pts.

The Mustangs got off to a slow start and West Texas took advantage of it, as they went to the half leading 45-26.

In the first half the Mustangs shot 40.7% (11-27), 42.9% from three (3-7), and was 1-3 at the free throw line. 

In the second half, the Mustangs offense was much of the same. WNMU ended up shooting 38.5% (20-52), 37.5% from three (6-16), and 62.5% (10-16) from the free throw line.

WNMU's bench scored 25 points, led by Joshuwan Johnson (Phoenix, AZ/Maricopa High School), who ended up with 7pts. The Mustangs got the ball in the paint and scored 28pts.

West Texas rebounded the ball well, having 27 compared to the Mustangs 24. WNMU had four offensive rebounds and converted five second chance points. WT had nine offensive rebounds as well and converted 11 second chance points.

WNMU turned the ball over 21 times compared to WTs 112. The Buffs would go on to score 17pts off of WNMU turnovers. WT got into foul trouble, having 22. WNMU had 13 fouls.

Saturday, February 19th, will be senior day for the Mustangs who will take on Cameron University with tip-off at 4:00pm.
