El Paso, TX- The Western New Mexico University Mustangs traveled to EL Paso Texas to play division one University of Texas at El Paso. In a close game to the end, the Miners defeated the Mustangs 72-59.
WNMU playing a great first half they outscored the Miners in the first quarter 16-12. Then going into half time down one making the score 37-36.
Milan Tuttle (Oakland, California/Heritage High School) led the Mustangs offensively ending the game with 16 points. Tuttle having an excellent shooting game averaging 55.6% from the field goal, 50% from the three, and 71.4% from the free throw line.
Sydney Wright (Houston, Texas/Henley High School) also helped the Mustangs offensively ending the night with 12 points. Wright also ended the game with 4 rebounds.
Larissa Laborin (Las Cruces, New Mexico/Centennial High School) was another Mustang that was in the double digits for the night ending the game with 10 points. Shooting 66.7% from the field, 100% from the three, and 100% from the free-throw line.
The Mustangs shot 37.5% from the field, and 72.4% from the free-throw line. WNMU also out rebounded UTEP on the defensive side 27-25.
The Mustangs will be back in action for the Conference Challenge in Las Vegas, NM November 11th and 12th.
