SILVER CITY, N.M. – Western New Mexico University's Head Football Coach Philip Vigil named Sam Camp as the Wide Receivers Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for the Mustangs.Â
"Sam is a proven winner and is a young upcoming coach. We are excited to bring him and his wife to Silver City," said Vigil. "Sam coached two All-American Receivers at KWU and was part of an offense that was top in the country in passing. He brings high energy every day, is very organized, and will bring in highly talented recruits to WNMU."Â

Camp was the Wide Receivers Coach at Texas Wesleyan University for the 2020-21 season. Due to COVID-19 the season was cut short.Â
Starting his college football coaching career, Camp was a graduate assistant at Kansas Wesleyan University for two seasons (2018-20). Camp would earn his Masters of Business Administration at KWU.
Camp came to Kansas Wesleyan after a four-year career at Friends University in Wichita, KS. While at Friends, Camp played wide receiver for the Falcons, recording 100 career receptions and 1242 receiving yards, and six touchdowns. As a senior in the 2017 campaign, Camp had 46 receptions for 599 yards for the Falcons.Â
In 2015, he was Honorable Mention All-KCAC at utility and receiver, and in 2016 he was named Second Team All-KCAC at utility and Honorable Mention All-KCAC as a receiver. In 2017, Camp was named Second Team All-KCAC as a receiver.
Camp is a native of Winfield, KS, and completed his degree in Health Management from Friends in 2018. He was also a member of the Friends University Track and Field team.
Sam is married to his wife Grace, as they have two huskies named Swiper and Gemma. When he is not spending time with his family, he likes to golf, fish, and hunt.
