Las Cruces, NM – The Mustangs continued on their exhibition game play Tuesday evening at the Pan American Center in Las Cruces, NM. With the excitement of not playing in the Pan American Center in over two years, the Aggies' energy and excitement helped them to defeat the Mustangs 94-40.

The Mustangs were trying to find their momentum and strategy at the beginning of the game trailing 23-11 at the end of the first quarter. The Aggies began to extend their lead in the second quarter, outscoring the Mustangs by 29 points and leading 47-18 going into halftime.

The Mustangs switched around offense to see what was working best, and really trying to stay in the game. Unfortunately, Mustang turnovers would give the Aggies the lead, 78-28 at the end of the third quarter. NMSU continued striving off of their lead, as Mustangs fought back hard but fell short. The final score between NMSU and WNMU was 94-40. 
 
Junior Abigail Walter (Fort Worth, TX/Nolan Catholic HS) lead the Mustang offense in total points with 8 points and 2 rebounds. Senior veteran Kyanne Kowatch (Tularosa, NM/Tularosa HS) tied for the second highest in total point with two 3-pointers and 2 rebounds. Las Cruces native, Kaela Chavez (Las Cruces, NM/Centennial HS) also had 6 points totaling from two made 3-pointers. 

The field goal range really hurt the Mustangs ending with a 54.5% accuracy percentage in comparison with 87% for the NMSU Aggies. Turnovers from the Mustangs gave NMSU 33 points from each of the 26 turnovers they had.  

The Mustangs found themselves in the free throw line 11 times making 6 of them. As a team WNMU shot, 31.1% from the field goal range, and 31.6% from behind the arch. 

The Aggies had five girls score double-digits. Molly Kaiser and Bique Sarr each scored 18 and 16 points.
