Nighthawks Take Game Two From Mustangs

Nampa, ID - Friday night, the Mustangs took on Northwestern Nazarene University for the second game of the three game series. The Nighthawks carried on with the win, after the Mustangs had a flat second half, falling 69-54.

Junior guards Tony Avalos and Amarion Cash had season highs with 10pts, leading the Mustangs in scoring.

"We need to pass the ball. We were in an absolute rock fight in the first half and had them we wanted. We need to execute" said Head Coach Zane Gibson.

To end the first half, WNMU was down just four, 26-22, playing great defense and putting pressure on the NNU.

Turnovers continue to be the kryptonite for the Mustangs having 17 turnovers and just 12 assists. The Nighthawks capitalized having three guys with double digit points, led by Ezekiel Alley knocking down 15pts.

The offense wasn't clicking in the second half, affecting the morale on both sides of the ball. The Nighthawks went on an 11-0 run in the middle of the second half, making the hole too big for the Mustangs.

"We will continue to fight and stay steady on our process" Gibson concluded.

WNMU looks to get redemption in the final game of this three game series, tomorrow night at 6pm MST, in the Johnson Sports Center.
