Women's Basketball Three Game Home Stand Starts with UTPB Saturday

SILVER CITY, N.M. –The Western New Mexico Women's Basketball play host to the Falcons of UT Permian Basin this Saturday on Drag's Court to kick off a three game home stand to close out conference play.

LAST TIME OUT:
It will have been nearly three months these teams last met, and WNMU will look to split the season series after falling in Odessa earlier this season, 73-54. The Mustangs outscored UTPB in the first quarter, 17-14 and trailed by just one going into the break. Things took a turn though in the third quarter when UTPB rallied off 24 points, while holding WNMU to just 8.

Despite a closer fourth quarter, the deficit was too much to overcome. Lemia Ntor-Ue led the Falcons with 17 points, followed by Holly Hemmeline with 14.

WNMU committed 34 turnovers in the loss, which the Falcons converted into 32 points on their end.

UT PERMIAN BASIN FALCONS:
Sitting at 9-16 overall and 6-13 in conference play, the Falcons are just two spots outside the top-12 that continue on to the post season tournament. Riding a three game skid, their last win came over Oklahoma Christian back on Feb. 6 in Odessa.

Lemia Ntor-Ue who led the scoring efforts back in November, is no longer listed on the UTPB roster. Holly Hemmeline has taken over as the team's leading scorer, averaging 13.0 points per game. She leads the team in three pointers (60), assists (69) and steals (60).

As a team UTPB ranks in the top half of the conference in offense, limiting opponents to 65.8 points per game.

Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. MST. Follow along with live stats and stream at wnmumustangs.com
