Four Mustangs Record Double-Doubles in Straight Win over UTPB

Odessa, Tex. – The Mustangs did not disappoint in their final game of a three-game road trip, sweeping the Falcons of UT – Permian Basin Monday afternoon. WNMU avenged their loss nearly ten days after UTPB took a three-set win in Silver City on Sept. 20 to open conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • UTPB scored five unanswered points to open the match, forcing an early WNMU timeout.
  • A kill from Erin Moss (Kailua, HI/University Laboratory School) followed by Falcon errors gave the Mustangs a 20-17 lead, and eventually the set at 25-20.
  • A WNMU block put a stop to another UTPB scoring run early in the second set.
  • Behind the service line an ace from Sarah Campoli (Weatherford, TX/Azle High School) pushed her team to a five-point lead.
  • Campoli would end up closing out the set behind the service line, as the Mustangs took set two 25-17 and a 2-0 lead in the match.
  • Keeping with the trend, the Falcons took a 3-0 lead to open the third set.
  • The teams traded points until late, with the Mustangs pulling ahead and holding on to close out 25-20.
  • WNMU hit .209 as a team, while holding UTPB to a .048 clip, recording 8.0 blocks.
  • The Mustangs held a 44-22 advantage in assists, a 71-54 edge in digs, and had six service aces to the Falcons two.
