Late Comeback Falls Short in San Angelo

San Angelo, Tex. — The Belles of Angelo State took sets one and two in demanding fashion. Coming out of the intermission the Mustangs looked renewed and ready to fight, but ultimately fell short of extending the match falling in straight sets.

TOP PERFORMERS: 
Bria Augustine (Bell Flower, CA/Mayfair High School) - 10 kills | .417 hitting percentage 
Gabi Lau (Kailua, HI/University Laboratory School) - 7 digs
Sarah Campoli (Weatherford, TX/Azle High School) - 10 assists 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 
  • Set one saw the Belles go up 15-5 early, on their way to a 25-11 set win. 
  • The offense of ASU was efficient, allowing them separate themselves in set two on their way to a 25-12 set win. 
  • Set three was a must win for the Mustangs.
  • Coming out of the intermission WNMU looked refreshed, catching the Belles by surprise.
  • They took the lead at 10-8, but it would be short lived. 
  • ASU closed out the set and match on a kill, winning the third set 25-21.
UP NEXT:

The Mustangs will close out their three game road trip Monday, taking on a familiar face in the UT - Permian Basin Falcons. WNMU opened conference play against UTPB on Sept. 20, dropping the match in straight sets.
