Mustangs On the Road for Two Matches

Denton / Wichita Falls, Tex. – After going 1-1 at home last weekend, the WNMU volleyball team is on the road for the fourth time this season as they head to Denton and Wichita Falls, Texas. The Mustangs will meet up with the Pioneers of Texas Woman's on Friday October 11, followed by an afternoon matchup with the Mustangs of MSU Texas.

A LOOK BACK:

In game one of homecoming weekend, the Mustangs came out firing on all cylinders against St. Mary's.
WNMU distanced themselves early in each of the sets, on their way to a sweep of the Rattlers.
As a team, the Mustangs hit an impressive .320, outscoring their opponents in every category.
Game two of the weekend, saw the Hilltoppers of St. Edward's enter Drag's Court, looking for redemption from their loss to UTPB early in the week.
SEU made a statement in the opening set, topping the Mustangs 25-10.
Sets two and three saw the Mustangs fight back but ultimately fell short.
WNMU was held to a .043 hitting percentage in the match, as the Hilltoppers tallied 12.0 blocks in the match.

MUSTANGS TO WATCH:

A got to for the Mustang offense is senior outside, Erin Moss (Kailua, HI/University Laboratory School). So far this season the Kailua native has 132 kills, averaging 3.07/set.
Close behind is sophomore outside Bria Augustine (Bell Flower, CA/Mayfair High School) who has 65 kills on the season, averaging 2.85/set.
Sharing the setting duties are Madelynn Culp (Vancouver, WA/Union High School) and Sarah Campoli (Weatherford, TX/Azle High School).
Campoli is just shy of 300 assists on the season, averaging 6.42/set, while teammate Culp sits at 80 assists with a 4.00 average a set.
Behind the WNMU defense is senior libero Gabi Lau (Kailua, HI/University Laboratory School). Lau has tallied 174 digs this season, averaging 4.35 a set in 40 sets played.
Hannah Tishlarich (Elk Grove, CA/Pleasant Grove High School) has played a big role in the front row for the Mustangs, leading the team with 24.0 blocks.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS:
Texas Woman's (8-8, 4-2 LSC)

In 2018, Texas Woman's fell in five to WNMU in Silver City, before taking the second meeting in straight sets to even the series at 1-1.
Last weekend the Pioneers went 2-0 on the road, defeating ENMU in straight sets before making a statement in Canyon, Texas defeating the Lady Buffs in four.
In a mid-week nonconference match up the #22 ranked Tarleton Texans defeated the Pioneers in four.
Offensively, senior middle blocker Courtney Noel leads the team with 2.28 kills/set.
On the opposite side of the ball is senior libero Bailey French who is 6^th in the LSC with 4.52 digs/set.
Helping the Pioneers to the number four spot in the LSC in blocks, is sophomore middle blocker Trixie Oche. Oche has amassed 57.0 blocks so far this season to average 1.10 a set.

MSU – Texas (3-12, 1-5 LSC)

WNMU split with MSU Texas last season, taking a win on Drag's Court before falling on the road in three.
This season the Mustangs of MSU started the season going 2-2 at the Gorilla Classic Tournament, but rode a seven game losing streak up until Sept. 28 when they defeated UT Tyler.
Last weekend in LSC play, MSU Texas fell to West Texas A&M on night one, then dropped a five-set heartbreaker to ENMU on night two.
Sarah Eakin does it all for the Mustangs, averaging 2.56 kills/set, hitting .350 on the season, while also leading the defense with 48.0 blocks.
Dishing it out is junior setter Sarah Glawe who averages 5.82 assists/set.
Running the back row for MSU Texas is Audrey Lopez with 187 digs and a 3.46 digs/set.
