Lady Mustangs to Take On #3 Ranked West Texas

Silver City, N.M—The women's basketball team will look to rebound after their Thursday night loss to in-state rival Eastern New Mexico. Western finished the game hitting 16-of-35 (45.7%) from the floor and 11-of-17 (64.7%) from the charity stripe. 22 of the 46 points were credited in the paint, and 14 points were created off of turnovers.
 
Destiney Johnson (El Paso, Texas/Parkland High School) led the way for Western draining 10 points, on 4-of-6 from the field and 2-of-4 from the free throw line. Taylor Allison (Little Elm, Texas/Denton High School) contributed five points of her own, on top of six rebounds.
 
Up next for the Lady Mustangs is #3 West Texas A&M on Saturday, tip-off is set for 2 p.m. The Lady Buffs are currently undefeated at 11-0 overall, and 3-0 in Lone Star Conference play after a 69-33 road win over UT – Permian Basin Thursday night.
 
The Lady Buffs are led offensively by Tyesha Taylor who averages 16.3 points per game in 11 games played. Taylor goes 79-of-116 (68%) from the floor, and 21-of-38 (55%) from the free throw line.  Delayah Harris leads the Lady Buffs defensive efforts averaging 7.7 rebounds per game.
 
Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. on Drag's Court.
