Mustangs Unable To Overcome Slow Start Against Texanns

Stephenville, TX--The Western New Mexico Mustangs were back in action Saturday afternoon against Lone Star Conference foe Tarleton St. University. Western struggled early on, going 2-9 (22%) in the first quarter. The Mustangs would find there rhythm in the second quarter, however, and would go into halftime trailing Tarleton, 26-16.


The second half was evenly matched as the two teams traded shots back and forth. In the end, the slow start was essentially the difference in the game, as the Texanns would go on to win by a final score of 66-52.


Kayla Clark (Mesa, Arizona/Dobson High School) led the Mustangs in scoring with 11 points on the night.


Western next takes the floor for a conference matchup on January 29th at home against The University of Texas-Permian Basin.
