Mustangs Break Losing Streak, Defeating Texas Woman in Five

 
Silver City, N.M- The Mustang volleyball team looked to break their three game losing streak this evening, and they did just that defeating the Pioneers of Texas Woman in five sets.
 
Junior, Erin Moss (Kailua, HI/University Laboratory School) led the way with a match high 21 kills on 43 attempts to hit .249 on the night. Madelynn Culp (Vancouver, WA/Union High School) and Sarah Campoli (Weatherford, TX/Azle High School) split the setting duties, and both finished the night with double-doubles. Culp racked up 26 assists and 20 digs, while Campoli added 20 assists and 10 digs of her own. Gabi Lau (Kailua, HI/University Laboratory School) was a digging machine, racking up 28 digs in tonight's match. The Mustangs led in all categories but one, blocking. The team combined for six aces, 70 kills, 106 digs, and improve to 3-4 in conference play.
 
The Pioneers played well, with each set being close. Elizabeth Ugbaja and Courtney Noel each contributed 14 kills. Noel also added six blocks to the team's 12 total. Conference assists leader Katy Ranes finished the match with 40 assists, and Bailey French led the defense with 30 digs.
 
The Mustangs return to home court again for tomorrows matchup against Texas A&M – Commerce at 6 p.m. (MT)
