LAS VEGAS, N.M. – Having just played each other 10 days ago, the Western New Mexico University men's basketball team will play at New Mexico Highlands University this Tuesday at 7 p.m.
The two teams faced each other on Nov. 18 when the Cowboys were able to come back and edge the Mustangs, 77-70. NMHU is 1-2 on the season, while WNMU is 1-3.
Sophomore
Jordan Enriquez (El Paso, TX/Bel Air ) had a big game going for 21 points, while junior
Latrell Spivey (Phoenix, AZ/Westview) and freshman
Eddie Giron (Monterrey, Mexico/Harmony Science Academy) added 15 points apiece. Spivey picked up his third straight double-double going for 14 rebounds as well.
James Healy had a career-night in leading the Cowboys with 27 points, connecting on seven three-pointers.
On the year, Enriquez leads the team averaging 19.8 points per game, while Spivey is averaging a double-double with 13.3 points and 14.0 rebounds. Giron (10.8) and sophomore
Willie McCray (Clovis, NM/Clovis/Westwind Prep Academy ) (10.3) also average in double-figures in scoring. Enriquez leads the team in assists with 11, Spivey in blocks with four and freshman
CJ Vanbeekum (Phoenix, AZ/Paradise) in steals with five. The Mustangs average 73.0 points per game and allow 78.5.
The Cowboys are led by Marlon Johnson's 16.0 points per game and 11.0 rebounds. Healy adds 15.7 and Kieran Woods with 13.0. They average 77 points per game and allow 80.67.
