COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Three Western New Mexico University softball players have been named to the All-RMAC Academic Teams as announced by the conference office Wednesday.


The list for the Mustangs is highlighted by Kaitlynn Barnes (Phoenix, AZ/Deer Valley High School) who was selected to the first-team.
Barnes leads the Mustangs in the power numbers this year, including home runs (14), RBI (51), triples (3), while also adding 11 doubles and is second on the team in batting average (.453). She has played in 44 games this season, starting 43. The senior from Phoenix, Ariz., is majoring in nursing and holds a 3.62 GPA.


The other two Mustangs, pitchers Bri Robles (Mesa, AZ/Mesa High School) and Arriel Smith (Oakhurst, CA/Yosemite High School) were named to the honor roll.
Robles has a 6-11 record to go along with a 5.69 ERA in 94.2 innings pitched this season. She has appeared in 25 games, starting 13 and has six complete games. The senior from Mesa, Ariz., is majoring in business management and holds a 3.40 GPA.


Smith has logged the most innings on the team this season in the circle with 158.2 and has a 6-16 mark and a 6.97 ERA. She has appeared in 42 games, starting 32 and has 10 complete games. The junior from Oakhurst, Calif., is majoring in nursing and holds a 3.82 GPA.


WNMU will conclude the regular season this weekend when they will play a pair of doubleheaders Saturday and Sunday at CSU-Pueblo.
