Down by five at the half, WNMU rattled off a 17-1 run in the first five minutes of the second half to take the victory away from Regis University, The Rangers didn't go down easy though. The home team went on a 16-5 recovery in the final seven minutes to come within two at the closing buzzer, 70-68.
WNMU moves to 13-15 overall (13-8 RMAC) while Regis slips to 6-19 on the season (3-18 RMAC).
The Mustang committed only seven turnovers in the game – all of them coming in the first half.
TJ Riley (Tyler, TX, Chapel Hill High School, Lamar University) finished with 28 points to lead all scorers. He was .500 from the floor (10-20) and 7 for 9 from the charity stripe. He also forced four steals and grabbed seven rebounds. Four of those were on the offensive end.
Chuck Kempf (Chicago, IL, Lakes High School, Trinidad Junior College) and
Andy Sohlich (Battle Creek, MI, St. Phillip Catholic Central High School, Western Texas Community College; Eldon Academy Prep) also recorded double figures, 13 and 14 points respectively.
Ryan Crane (Anthem, AZ, Boulder Creek High School)dished out six assists in just 19 minutes of play.
Regis' Curtis Mitchell led the Rangers with 20 points.
