Western New Mexico's snowballing losses grew as visiting Mesa State College rolled over the Mustangs, 73-39, in RMAC women's basketball action. The Mavs rebounded from Friday night's loss to Highlands to easily dismantle WNMU, never trailing in the game. The win moves the Mavericks to 15-8 overall and 12-7 in league play. The Mustangs still have managed just one win against 22 losses.
The Mustangs shot a dismal 25 percent from the floor and was out-rebounded, 48-27, by the Mavs. MSC led, 35-18, at the half.
WNMU managed just one player in double figures.
Jaleesa Russell (Albuquerque, NM, Sandia High School) scored 11.
The Mavericks, who played all 11 players that made the trip, got 16 from Kelsey Sigl, and Tara Gehring added 14.
The Mustangs hit the road for their last road trip of the year next weekend when they battle with Metro State and Regis.
