Riley's 36 Points Lift Mustangs To Victory

The Mustangs trailed for the first eight minutes of the heated battle of Westerns, but WNMU put together a strong push to close out the half with a 41-37 lead. The purple and gold dominated the second half and routed the Mountaineers to a 12-point victory, 82-70.

WNMU is close to .500 on the season with a 12-13 record (12-6 RMAC). Western State falls to 7-16 (6-12 RMAC) on the season.

TJ Riley (Tyler, TX, Chapel Hill High School, Lamar University) had a sensational game with 20 points in the first half and another 16 in the second. He also came away with eight rebounds, four assists, and two steals.

Chad Carter (Tucson, AZ, Ironwood Ridge High School), this week's RMAC Defensive Player of the Week, finished with 14 points, three blocks, and four steals.

The Mountaineers' Andrew Zehnder finished with 25 points.

WNMU shot .466 from the field but wasn't their usual self from the three-point line (.261) or charity stripe (.533). Western State shot .491 overall on the night.

WNMU held the huge rebounding advantage (44-30) with nearly half of them on the offensive end. The battle on the boards resulted in 21 second chance points for the Mustangs.
