Volleyball Looks to Make it Three Straight Against Cowgirls in Quaterfinal Matchup

SILVER CITY, N.M. – The Western New Mexico University volleyball team will look to make it three wins over New Mexico Highlands when the teams matchup Tuesday night at 7 p.m. inside Drag's Court in the quarterfinal round of the RMAC Tournament.

WNMU (16-11) the RMAC West Division champions and top-seed on their side of the conference, took six straight sets from the Cowgirls (12-18) this season. In fact, the Mustangs have allowed the Cowgirls to reach over 20 points in just three of the six sets, with the highest output of 22 during the second set of their match played in Las Vegas.

The winner will face the winner from the No. 2 Metro State (22-5) and No. 3 Colorado Mines (18-9) at a site to be determined.
The highest conference record of the team remaining will host the final four, with Nebraska-Kearney entering as the favorites to host, with a 29-1 overall record, 17-1 in the conference and will face No. 4 Regis (18-9) Tuesday night. The other matchup will be in the western side of the conference with No. 2 Adams State (16-11) hosting No. 3 CSU-Pueblo (15-12).

While the Mustangs took both from the Cowgirls, Metro State and Colorado Mines split their season series with both teams winning in five sets. Nebraska-Kearney took both from Regis, sweeping all six sets. Adams State also took both from CSU-Pueblo this season.

Also, with the game being an RMAC postseason contest, new ticket prices will be in effect as set by the conference. Adults will be charged $8, while children, seniors and students, including WNMU students will be charged $4.

Come out and support the Lady Mustangs Tuesday night, as they are 8-2 this season at home, having won their last two at Drag's Court and their last seven against RMAC opponents.
